Why can't I repost on TikTok?
Quick answerChecked October 2026
If you can't repost on TikTok, the cause is usually your connection, an out-of-date app or the video itself. TikTok's own fixes are to switch between Wi-Fi and mobile data, clear the app's cache, restart the app and your phone, and update TikTok. If only one video won't repost, its settings may block it.

Why can’t I repost on TikTok? Start with TikTok’s own fixes
These are the steps TikTok’s Help Center recommends when sharing doesn’t work. Try them in order and check after each one.
- Switch between Wi-Fi and mobile data.
- Clear the app's cache in Settings and privacy.
- Close TikTok, restart your phone, then open TikTok again.
- Update TikTok to the latest version from the App Store or Google Play.
On a computer, refresh the page, then restart your browser.
Problems and what to try
| Problem | Most likely cause | What to try |
|---|---|---|
| No Repost option on any video | Old app version or a glitch | Update, restart, clear cache |
| No Repost option on one video | That video can't be reposted | Save to Favorites or share a link |
| Repost tap does nothing | Connection dropped | Switch Wi-Fi or mobile data |
| Not available in the browser | Repost is an app feature | Use the TikTok app |
| Stopped after lots of activity | Temporary action limit | Wait a few hours |
Troubleshooting by situation
Repost is missing on every video
This points to your app, not the videos. Update TikTok, restart your phone and clear the cache. If it’s still missing, report it to TikTok in the app under Settings and privacy, then Report a problem.
Repost is missing on one video
Some videos can’t be reposted, for example when the creator has limited sharing or the video is restricted. Other videos reposting fine confirms this. You can’t override it, but you can tap Add to Favorites to keep it.
You reposted, but it isn’t on your profile
Open your profile and check the Reposts tab specifically. Reposts don’t appear in your main video grid. Pull down to refresh if it’s not there yet.
You were reposting or removing a lot of videos
TikTok may pause actions for a while when an account does a lot very quickly. Stop for a few hours. This is also why Detok removes reposts at a steady pace instead of all at once.

Why can't I repost on TikTok anymore?
Repost hasn't been removed. If it's gone from every video, update the app, restart it and your phone, and clear the cache. If it's missing on one video, that video's settings or restrictions are the likely reason.
Why is the Repost button missing on some videos?
Some videos can't be reposted, for example because of the creator's settings or because the video is restricted. There's nothing you can change on your side. You can still save it to Favorites or share a link.
Why can I not repost on the TikTok website?
TikTok's repost instructions are written for the app. If the option isn't there in your browser, use the app on your phone.
Why does tapping Repost do nothing?
The action probably didn't reach TikTok. Check your connection, then try again. If it keeps failing, restart the app and clear its cache.
Can too many reposts stop me reposting?
TikTok can temporarily limit actions on accounts that do a lot very quickly. If you've just reposted or removed many videos, wait a few hours.
